The X-Files Workout

I had a semi-humorous strength training session at the gym today. No, no embarrassing flatulence or anything of that matter. You see, I have the very fortunate privilege of being a member of Equinox Fitness . It’s a pretty swank gym and attracts a variety of Celebrity clientele. At my gym in particular, I see David Ducohovny ALL THE TIME. Seriously, our workouts seem to be in sync. Oh David, I certainly know the “X-Files” on how you remain in such hunky shape. He was there today, naturally, do all sorts of intimidating looking exercises with his personal trainer.

After warming up on the stationary bike for a vigorous 10 minutes, I did some strength training (2 sets of 15 reps on all of the following):

-Calf Raises

-Squats

-Lunges

-Bicep Curls

-Tricep Curls

-Shoulder Presses

-Bicycle Crunches

-Oblique Crunches

-Criss-Cross Toe Reach Crunches

Upon exiting the gym, I ran into (get this) Tea Leoni, David D’s wife. Surreal, yes? We had one of those weird moments where I was exiting and she was entering, so we did one of those cutsey (“You go ahead, no you!”) dances at the door. Haha, I chuckled about the weirdness of the whole situation on my way home, which is conveniently right next door to the gym.

I was starving, so I had half of this:IMG_0608

Lunch was VERY satisfying and dairy rich, a complete contrast to my vegan breakfast. I inhaled a ham and provolone sandwich on Ezekiel Sprouted 7 Grain bread, smeared with dijon mustard, 40 Spice Tribe hummus (so flavor-rich), and sprinkled with baby spinach leaves. I washed it down with a glass of organic skim milk (Ronnybrook farms, local and fresh). I also enjoyed a 2% Chobani Pineapple Greek yogurt. I really like the 2% and may switch to it, it’s sooo much creamier and tasted heavenly with the pineapple chunks.

A Lunch Not Shy of Dairy. Cheese, Milk, and Yogurt Included.

Alright, work beckons. Later!

Thank you Maggie! It’s taken a surprising amount of work to get it going, but I’m getting into the groove now. I love your blog as well, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

“Oh David, I certainly know the “X-Files” on how you remain in such hunky shape”

Hahahaha. Things like that are why I love you.

Also, what’s the difference between greek yogurt and other kinds? Is it better for you? I’ve heard talk of it a lot lately, and I’ve had the kind with honey from Zabar’s, once. I grabbed it off the shelf real quick without looking because I was very close to killing some old Upper West Side assholes and had to get out of there. It was delicious, but what’s its deal?

Joben! It’s strained repeatedly, and for reasons I don’t entirely understand, that increases the protein content. But yes, it’s lower in fat and has triple the protein of ordinary loser yogurt, I’m completely hooked. It’s very rich, creamy, and wayyyyy more filling than your average container of “Activia” (do the jingle)! Ha.

[...] I’m off to possibly go to the gym, or just stay home and be lazy. David Duchovny, sorry, but I think I may just take a rain check today. Please forgive me, [...]
